While pre-orders of Apple's 2G iPod Shuffle have recently begun to ship (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/10/20061029123032.shtml) to customers, Apple has announced the general availability (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2006/oct/31shuffle.html) of the music player in Apple Retail Stores and Authorized Retailers worldwide this Friday.
AppleInsider has reported that while retailers may get stock of the players prior to Friday (http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2185), they will not be allowed to place them out for sale until Friday.
Note: 2G = Second Generation. Second generation iPod Shuffles have a capacity of 1 Gigabytes.

So I've been thinking that since there are two Apple Stores near here (Woodfield & Deerpark), that this AT&T store might be the perfect diamond in the rough. Anyone thinking of coming here? There are two locations in Arlington Heights...one on Dundee and one on Arlington Heights Rd.

AT&T has always wanted to increase prices across the board whenever they have a product that is going to sell well
They never give an actual answer as to why thus it is pretty easy to see that they are doing it strictly to get more money and little to do with actual increases in costs.

It's sad that we live in a society where actors, pop/rap stars, sports stars, etc. get paid mega bucks while professions like "school teacher" get paid peanuts.
I agree, it is sad. But it is simple economics i'm afraid.
There is only one Tom Cruise or Jay-Z, so the supply of the 'talents' they bring to any project is massively small against a seemingly large demand, hence a huge fee is commanded.
Mr X the Schoolteacher, however, has no such bargaining power as there's a relatively large supply of people who could do the job.

just to clear something up. This right now appears to be a text-based phone. I don't think Wu is talking about iChat AV functionality. Some other sites (of much, much less accuracy) have been claiming that the iPhone would be able to do videoconferencing and whatnot, but currently there isn't any good evidence to support this, and in my opinion it doesn't look like current 3G GSM cellular networks simply don't have the duplex bandwidth to deliver that kind of content. (and 4G is still a ways off)
This is why I think it is pointless to do it unless you are connected to an EV-DO revision A connection. I don't need another "awesome phone" regardless of how well it syncs with iLIFE. I would much rather be able to travel and show somebody what I see, rather than talk about it or send a photo.
EV-DO revision A allows you to connect wirelessly at speeds fast enough to video chat. TEXT im feature is pointless... I can do that on any phone. I'm sure Apple has figured out a FASTER way to type than T9 Word or something.
We need to forget about this 3G & 4G GSM worthless networks. Sony did it right by pairing up with Sprint. If I didn't hate Windows so much, I would buy that new ultra-portable VAIO TXN17P/T Notebook they just came out with.

I restored my iPod Photo using iTunes without problem. Then it said to connect to the wall charger. I did that and nothing happened after 30 minutes. I connected it back to my computer using a USB (not Firewire) cable and the battery icon came up (not animated, just flashed).
So what can I do at this point?

With your beliefs, they probably weren't man haters, just a you hater. Maybe I surround myself with rare lesbians, but I haven't met one yet that hated men. Some of my best friends are men. ;)

All I want is a little scale in the corner. Is that too much to ask? It's impossible to figure out how far away things are visually. In the heat of navigation (especially via car) time is of the essence and having to re-calculate the route just to figure out the distance to destination from the current location takes too long.
Which is why, in the heat of navigation, it's better to use a dedicated GPS system. I'd love it if Apple made my TomTom redundant. One fewer thing to carry and charge.
