Bah Humbug to all the unbelievers!

Apple know Vista's been coming for years, so they'll have Leopard ready. They've been working on the iPhone since before Tiger, so it's not like their R+D is suddenly going to drop in Mac development.

All of this 'what about the Mac' stuff is a little harsh. If Steve's got an Octo-Core Mac Pro coming in a few weeks, then he's not going to say so now.

Also, if Leopard isn't ready yet, and will be out in a few months, then not mentioning it is an awesome mind game. Bill gates was propbrably watching going "Uh...but- Vista and, err... what?"

    Just have faith.

If nothing's changed in three months then quote me and pelt me with rotten fruit.

That's a crock - you and most who have any sort of idea about what's going on know it.

They would not be spending so much time doing everything they can to stop the possibility of jailbreak if they didn't care "Jasus" is jailbreaking.

Despite what anyone wants to argue, jailbreaking means piracy to those who care at Apple - plain and simple.

    Oh you're so smart...thank you.

"When the app store learns to accept international credit card I will surely stop jail breaking"

I have an airport express base station, that connects to a modem (NOT wireless) through firewire, which is connected to the internet.

Will PS3 work with airport express? Will I need to use a different router to make it work?

At this point, I couldn't really care less about Blu Ray or HD-DVD. I'd be more excited if Apple included Lightscribe or equivalent capability in their drives. Unlabeled discs are piled high on my desk.

First let me say while this is a new account, I am not new to Macrumors. I've been coming here for a while, it's just now that I am making an account.

Ok, some of you might be aware of Mountain Dew/Pepsi's promo, every10minutes where you can win an Xbox 360. If any of you drink this regularly, instead of simply throwing away the caps, I'm asking you to email them to

I know it sounds like a lot and sorta cheap, but I'd really appreciate it and if I could give something in return, I would

And, by the way, thank you so much for making me think of my parents having sex.

Edit: and I still think the first way to get on that road to being a grounded adult is to get out of his freaking parent's house. Until then, he should have to experience exactly the parental attitude that Chundles (sarcastically) described.

Disclaimer: And, yes, I had no chance whatsoever to get laid when I was 18, so, yeah, I'm freaking jealous. Also, had I told my parents I was going over to sleep at my girlfriend's house, they (a) would have fainted out of sheer disbelief, then (b) beat the crap out of me.

    Clutter is awesome.
Just the thing I've been looking for. Have put all my CDs on my iPod and don't have the real CDs with me while I'm up at Uni.

Just to throw my hat into the ring:
    Wiretap (

I have found this very useful in different circs. It runs 'on the top' of any application and takes up little processor
    * take a funny quote from a DVD and use it as a system-beep
    * record internet radio to listen to later
    - you must obey all copy-right laws though, I guess..

It's another Ambrosia app. These guys make the BEST games. Anyone played Escape Velocity Nova? or the classic Pegleg? or Maelstrom? That was back in the day. Totally addictive. Any sooo-weeeet graphics.
    Anyway, this is by them!

Not at all!! That is what this thread is for, and you and your awesome photos are always welcome.

A couple of those S2Ks earlier are AWESOME!! I've been really thinking about getting rid of my Talon and buying one of those. I need a new project car, and the S2K would be great. Those are just classic looking, so even years down the road, it will still look great. Thanks for the pics.

I don't think this one has been mentioned.... I think Microsoft's Remote Desktop is a wonderful app. I have had my iBook for almost a year now and Remote Desktop was one of the major reasons I decided to delve into the Mac world. I go to a college with abundant wireless access and I can basically use my Mac as both a Mac and PC (Remote Desktop allows you to remotely log in to a windows machine). And don't just on me for this.....there are some programs at school we have to use that are Windows only....

I had some extra Nike+ / Apple T-shirts laying around that I should get rid of. It is pretty simple, just a black T, with the words 'tune your run' on the front and the Nike+ logo on the back. All are brand new, never been worn, from a smoke free environment. I am asking $6 plus actual shipping. I have 1 XXLARGE and 1 Women's Small. Please PM if you are interested. Thanks!

It's cool, but totally pointless other than being used as a tech demo.

I fully expect that the control will not be fine enough on the layers / brushes, etc to be acceptable for commercial or even personal use. It's hard enough to select and erase layer parts when using a WACOM tablet on a PC or Mac... Now we do the same thing with fingerpaint precision....

I think .Mac is great, and this sneak peek gets me a somewhat excited. Having said that, I thing the .Mac service needs a LOT of work. I mean let's really look at what it offers: a cool email ADDRESS "", full usage of the Backup app., secure iChats, groups, and iWeb publishing, and this for $99 a year. WOW!

Ok, listen! .Mac gets me about as hot and bothered as an egg salad sangwich, I got suckered into it about 2 years ago when Apple was offering subscriptions for a discounted price on the day after Thanksgiving. I remain subscribed and probably will as long as the service is offered but it is practically featureless in it's current form. You know what I really want to see first off .Mac apps like a .Mac iCal or maybe a .Mac TextEdit, how about new Fonts available only to .Mac members, and .Mac Widgets (like once promised). And then the price, the price needs to come down a bit maybe $59 a year.

Reading through this thread, I was wondering how many people defending the iPad are actually aware of its inherent shortcomings for professional users , and have actually used programs like Photoshop .

The iPad was never meant to be used by professionals, it is not compatible with pro apps and devices on a basic level, like colour spaces, connectivity, file import/export, tethering, to name a few .

As it's been pointed out before, finger gestures are a crutch, not an enhancement, just like they were since the introduction of trackpads .

SJ called the iPad a post-PC computer - nothing could be further from the truth.
It might help to develop better input devices in the future, but right now Apple doesn't seem to be part of it, aiming their products at a retro oriented crowd which is merely asking for simplification, instead of progress.

Almost word-for-word, the exact same argument that was made by Luddites against these fancy, new-fangled mouse and GUI-based computers back in the mid-80s.
